Terms of service
The short version
- WardTime is free to use. There is no plan, no trial, and no card.
- A ward admin who signs up is responsible for their ward’s account, the people they invite, and the data their ward puts in.
- Use it for scheduling appointments with members. Don’t use it to store anything about what is discussed in those appointments.
- We run it carefully but offer it as is, without guarantees. Keep your calendar as the source of truth.
- You can delete your ward and its data at any time, and we may retire or change the service with reasonable notice.
Who can use WardTime
The admin area is for adults acting on behalf of a congregation: bishoprics, clerks, and executive secretaries. Members who book an appointment don’t need an account and agree only to the privacy policy by using the booking page. WardTime is an independent volunteer project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Your account and your ward
- You sign in with a Google account or email. Keep that account secure; anything done from it counts as you.
- The person who creates a ward becomes its first admin. Admins can invite others, change settings, and delete the ward. Give admin access only to people who should have it.
- Device links for the front desk and bishop screens work without a sign-in. Anyone holding one can see that day’s names, so treat them like a key: don’t post them, and revoke them from Settings if they get out.
- Your ward’s web address is chosen once and printed on flyers, so it can’t be renamed by you. Ask us if you need it changed.
Acceptable use
Use WardTime for what it’s built for: booking and running appointments. In particular:
- Enter only what is needed to run an appointment. Never record the content of interviews, counsel, or confessions anywhere in WardTime, including in clerk notes.
- Only send emails to people who booked or were added by a clerk. Don’t use the running-behind or confirmation emails for announcements.
- Don’t try to access another ward’s data, probe the service, or run automated traffic against it.
- Don’t impersonate a ward or leader, and don’t create a ward you aren’t authorized to run.
We may suspend or remove a ward that breaks these rules, and will tell the admins why.
Data
Your ward’s data belongs to your ward. We use it only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy. Appointments are deleted automatically after the retention period, and an admin can export the ward’s appointments as a spreadsheet or delete the entire ward at any time from Settings. Google Calendar access can be disconnected at any time, and the calendar itself always stays under the ward’s Google account.
What we promise, and what we don't
We aim to keep WardTime available and correct, especially on Sundays, and we fix problems as quickly as we can. But WardTime is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We don’t guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every email will be delivered, or that every calendar event will sync. Please keep the bishop’s calendar as the record of what is scheduled, and keep a paper list handy on the day if that gives you peace of mind.
To the extent the law allows, WardTime and its operator are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service, which is nothing.
Changes and ending the service
- We may change these terms. If a change matters, we’ll update the date above and note it in the admin area.
- We may change or retire features, or the service as a whole. If WardTime is shutting down, admins will get at least 30 days’ notice and a way to export their data.
- You can stop using WardTime at any time by deleting your ward.
